Investigate an OPC UA connection rejected by certificate or policy checks
A PLC's OPC UA endpoint can be reachable while secure-session establishment fails because of trust, identity, policy or time.
Environment and inputs: Industrial PLC / automation guidance · Verify the exact controller, module, firmware, engineering tool and machine documentation. Linked vendor examples apply to their stated products and library versions; observation, state changes and physical work require distinct authorization.
Observe and record
Record endpoint identity, selected security policy, certificate metadata and the exact client and server diagnostic messages without exposing private keys.
Interpret the evidence
A trusted certificate must match the intended application and validity context. Transport reachability and user authorization are separate checks.
Resolve and verify
Use the approved PKI and account process to correct the specific trust or identity issue, then validate the required secure session.
Machine and data safeguards
Do not accept every certificate, disable encryption or use anonymous access simply to clear a connection error.
