Compare available source and receive timestamps, quality, sequence indicators and the approved update requirement without writing heartbeat values into the process.
Interpret the evidence
Connected does not universally mean fresh process data. Cached values and independent clock errors can mislead a diagnosis.
Resolve and verify
Repair the demonstrated acquisition or update dependency and implement the approved stale-data indication and recovery behavior. Validate communication loss cases safely.
Machine and data safeguards
Do not replace stale quality with good or extend age limits beyond the actual control and operator requirement.
