PLC / Digital I/O, Sensors & Actuators
Check field-power dependencies separately from PLC CPU power
The controller can remain online while a sensor or output group loses its separate field supply.
Environment and inputs: Industrial PLC / automation guidance · Verify the exact controller, module, firmware, engineering tool and machine documentation. Linked vendor examples apply to their stated products and library versions; observation, state changes and physical work require distinct authorization.
Observe and record
Record CPU status, module field-power diagnostics and which groups fail together, using the approved power-distribution drawing.
Interpret the evidence
CPU communications prove neither field-power presence nor safe load behavior. Supplies and reference groups can be independent.
Resolve and verify
Have the electrical owner investigate the demonstrated field-power path under the proper isolation and test procedure, then confirm intended I/O health.
Machine and data safeguards
Do not bridge supply groups, bypass protective devices or assume an online CPU makes field circuits safe to touch.
