PLC / Digital I/O, Sensors & Actuators
Diagnose a digital input LED that disagrees with the PLC tag
An input indicator can show field activity while the application reads a different channel or an old process-image value.
Environment and inputs: Industrial PLC / automation guidance · Verify the exact controller, module, firmware, engineering tool and machine documentation. Linked vendor examples apply to their stated products and library versions; observation, state changes and physical work require distinct authorization.
Observe and record
Record the module and channel identity, LED state, mapped tag, channel diagnostics and the relevant task's update context without forcing the signal.
Interpret the evidence
An LED describes a specific module-side indication, not necessarily the final logical condition. Mapping, inversion, filtering and update timing can change the application view.
Resolve and verify
Compare the approved wiring schedule and I/O map, repair the verified mismatch and validate a normal authorized sensor transition through to the application.
Machine and data safeguards
Do not bridge terminals or force the input just to make the displayed tag agree.
