PLC / Digital I/O, Sensors & Actuators
Use IO-Link device quality and identity instead of only the process value
An IO-Link sensor can provide a plausible last value while device communication or validity is degraded.
Environment and inputs: Industrial PLC / automation guidance · Verify the exact controller, module, firmware, engineering tool and machine documentation. Linked vendor examples apply to their stated products and library versions; observation, state changes and physical work require distinct authorization.
Observe and record
Read the installed master's documented port state, connected-device identity, process-data validity and device event information without changing parameters.
Interpret the evidence
Port mode, device revision and process-data layout are product-specific. A numeric value alone does not prove a fresh valid measurement.
Resolve and verify
Compare the approved IODD and device configuration with reported identity and diagnostics, then repair the verified device, cable or configuration issue.
Machine and data safeguards
Do not overwrite device parameters or substitute a process-data layout from a similar sensor to hide a quality fault.
