Use EtherCAT state and device diagnostics before changing PLC logic
A slave can be discovered but remain below the required operational state because initialization, mapping or synchronization failed.
Environment and inputs: Industrial PLC / automation guidance · Verify the exact controller, module, firmware, engineering tool and machine documentation. Linked vendor examples apply to their stated products and library versions; observation, state changes and physical work require distinct authorization.
Observe and record
Record requested and actual device states, the exact status code and the first device reporting a problem using approved diagnostics.
Interpret the evidence
A visible device list does not prove valid cyclic I/O. State names and transitions have specific protocol meaning and implementation details.
Resolve and verify
Follow the manufacturer's diagnostic reference to repair the indicated configuration or physical dependency, then verify the intended operational state and valid data.
Machine and data safeguards
Do not repeatedly force operational state or bypass an unresolved device diagnostic.
