Observe and record
Record link indications, managed-switch health, controller connection status and the exact application error from approved diagnostics.
Interpret the evidence
Link, address reachability and valid cyclic process data are separate layers. A healthy link cannot certify the program's data freshness.
Resolve and verify
Follow the evidence through the intended protocol and device configuration, repair the first failed layer and verify fresh valid application data.
Machine and data safeguards
Do not restart every network device or assume changing a cable fixes an identified protocol mismatch.
