Collect Oracle binary patch inventory from the correct home

A host can contain several Oracle homes at different patch levels. Verify which home runs the instance before checking inventory.

Environment and inputs: Oracle Database 19c baseline · SQL*Plus-compatible SQL unless RMAN, DGMGRL, ADRCI or a host shell is specified. Check release, patch level, edition and container first.

Start with this diagnostic

Use the stated SQL, RMAN, DGMGRL or host shell and replace sample names with approved targets. DBA and V$ views need authorized catalog access in the correct container. Do not grant broad privileges for an example.

"$ORACLE_HOME/OPatch/opatch" lsinventory

Read the result

In the authorized database-host shell, the utility reads inventory for the selected home. Its output does not show whether database SQL patch actions completed.

Resolve and verify

Compare the running process home, inventory and patch readme with DBA_REGISTRY_SQLPATCH. Resolve mismatches through the planned patch procedure.

Operational precautions

Do not use the wrong home's OPatch utility or modify inventory records manually.
