Oracle Database / Multitenant, Patching & Deployment
Check the server-side directory behind a Data Pump path
A client-side file path is not automatically available to a database server process. Inspect the directory object and its approved OS destination.
Environment and inputs: Oracle Database 19c baseline · SQL*Plus-compatible SQL unless RMAN, DGMGRL, ADRCI or a host shell is specified. Check release, patch level, edition and container first.
Start with this diagnostic
Use the stated SQL, RMAN, DGMGRL or host shell and replace sample names with approved targets. DBA and V$ views need authorized catalog access in the correct container. Do not grant broad privileges for an example.
SELECT directory_name, directory_path FROM all_directories WHERE directory_name = 'DP_DIR';
Read the result
The directory path belongs to the database server environment. Object grants and operating-system permissions are separate checks.
Resolve and verify
Confirm the intended directory object, least required access and storage availability under the Oracle service account. Retest the approved export or import job.
Operational precautions
Do not grant access to broad system paths or make dump directories world-writable.
