ORA-39070: investigate why Data Pump cannot open its log file
A Data Pump job may fail before meaningful work because its log destination cannot be opened. Read accompanying file and directory errors.
Environment and inputs: Oracle Database 19c baseline · SQL*Plus-compatible SQL unless RMAN, DGMGRL, ADRCI or a host shell is specified. Check release, patch level, edition and container first.
Start with this diagnostic
Use the stated SQL, RMAN, DGMGRL or host shell and replace sample names with approved targets. DBA and V$ views need authorized catalog access in the correct container. Do not grant broad privileges for an example.
SELECT directory_name, directory_path FROM all_directories WHERE directory_name = 'DP_DIR';
Read the result
The mapping helps locate the server-side path, but existence of the directory object does not establish write permission or available space.
Resolve and verify
Check the job's effective DIRECTORY and LOGFILE parameters, grants and server filesystem. Correct the specific destination issue and retry the approved job.
Operational precautions
Do not disable logging or send output to an unprotected path to hide the original error.
