ORA-08103: investigate object changes during a scan
A scan can fail when its referenced object changes, for example during concurrent truncation or partition maintenance. Preserve the SQL and maintenance timeline.
Environment and inputs: Oracle Database 19c baseline · SQL*Plus-compatible SQL unless RMAN, DGMGRL, ADRCI or a host shell is specified. Check release, patch level, edition and container first.
Start with this diagnostic
Use the stated SQL, RMAN, DGMGRL or host shell and replace sample names with approved targets. DBA and V$ views need authorized catalog access in the correct container. Do not grant broad privileges for an example.
SELECT owner, object_name, subobject_name, object_id, data_object_id, last_ddl_time FROM dba_objects WHERE owner = 'APP_OWNER' AND object_name = 'APP_ORDERS';
Read the result
Object and data-object identities help compare a segment with DDL history. Current metadata may already describe the replacement segment.
Resolve and verify
Correlate the failure with approved maintenance and concurrent jobs. Coordinate object replacement with readers or revise the application's access pattern.
Operational precautions
Do not conclude that this error always means physical corruption. Escalate with trace and storage evidence if maintenance does not explain it.
