ORA-01110: use the accompanying file detail rather than treating it as the cause
This message commonly identifies the datafile associated with another error. Preserve the complete stack so the actual failure is not lost.
Environment and inputs: Oracle Database 19c baseline · SQL*Plus-compatible SQL unless RMAN, DGMGRL, ADRCI or a host shell is specified. Check release, patch level, edition and container first.
Start with this diagnostic
Use the stated SQL, RMAN, DGMGRL or host shell and replace sample names with approved targets. DBA and V$ views need authorized catalog access in the correct container. Do not grant broad privileges for an example.
SELECT file#, name FROM v$datafile ORDER BY file#;
Read the result
The mapping connects the reported file number with expected storage. ORA-01110 itself is context and does not specify whether the problem is corruption, access or recovery.
Resolve and verify
Investigate the primary error that appears with it and correlate the file with storage and recovery status. Include both errors in the escalation.
Operational precautions
Do not restore a file solely because its number appears in ORA-01110.
