Docker / Compose, Swarm & Production Security
Verify the security of a remote Docker administration endpoint
A remote daemon can expose powerful host operations. Establish the intended endpoint and authentication design before diagnosing client connectivity.
Environment and inputs: Docker Engine · Compose v2 and Buildx where specified; Linux containers unless noted. Verify daemon context, installed feature support and authorized host or Swarm manager access first.
Start with this check
Confirm the environment and replace sample objects, namespaces, images, paths and hosts with approved targets. Share only relevant, sanitized output. Follow the workload owner’s process for changes.
docker context ls
Read the result
The list provides endpoint metadata for configured contexts, not proof of certificate validity, SSH trust or complete authorization policy.
Resolve and verify
Compare the selected endpoint with the approved SSH or TLS administration path and actual connection error. Repair identity or trust through the platform owner and test a permitted read operation.
Before changing production
Do not expose an unauthenticated TCP daemon, disable TLS verification or copy private client keys into shared support records.
