Docker / Compose, Swarm & Production Security
Plan a Compose shutdown around application drain and data durability
A stop sequence can interrupt requests or force-kill a process that has not completed cleanup. Review the service's lifecycle contract first.
Environment and inputs: Docker Engine · Compose v2 and Buildx where specified; Linux containers unless noted. Verify daemon context, installed feature support and authorized host or Swarm manager access first.
Start with this check
Confirm the environment and replace sample objects, namespaces, images, paths and hosts with approved targets. Share only relevant, sanitized output. Follow the workload owner’s process for changes.
docker compose ps -a
Read the result
The project inventory identifies current services and states, not their complete dependency or data-consistency requirements. Shutdown behavior depends on configuration and application signal handling.
Resolve and verify
Coordinate traffic drain, dependency order and a justified graceful-stop period, then validate the workflow in a safe environment. Confirm clean recovery and business consistency after maintenance.
Before changing production
Do not use volume-removal or forceful cleanup options as a routine stop procedure, especially for stateful services.
