Docker / Compose, Swarm & Production Security
Find the Compose project that actually owns a workload
Changing the working directory or project name can create a separate stack with different resource names. Establish ownership before cleanup.
Environment and inputs: Docker Engine · Compose v2 and Buildx where specified; Linux containers unless noted. Verify daemon context, installed feature support and authorized host or Swarm manager access first.
Start with this check
Confirm the environment and replace sample objects, namespaces, images, paths and hosts with approved targets. Share only relevant, sanitized output. Follow the workload owner’s process for changes.
docker compose ls
Read the result
The list reports Compose projects visible through the selected daemon. Project discovery and status depend on retained labels and resources.
Resolve and verify
Compare the intended project name, source files and container labels with deployment history. Use explicit reviewed project inputs and reconcile duplicates through their owners.
Before changing production
Do not remove an unfamiliar project or assume similarly named containers share data and lifecycle.
