Locate bind-mount sources on the Docker daemon host
A local directory can exist on the operator's laptop while the remote daemon uses a different path with the same spelling.
Environment and inputs: Docker Engine · Compose v2 and Buildx where specified; Linux containers unless noted. Verify daemon context, installed feature support and authorized host or Swarm manager access first.
Start with this check
Confirm the environment and replace sample objects, namespaces, images, paths and hosts with approved targets. Share only relevant, sanitized output. Follow the workload owner’s process for changes.
docker context show
docker container inspect --format '{{json .Mounts}}' app
Read the result
The selected endpoint and mapping identify the relevant daemon-side source. Desktop-managed sharing adds another platform-specific layer.
Resolve and verify
Confirm the actual host filesystem and storage attachment through approved administration. Correct the deployment path or supported transfer workflow and validate expected data.
Before changing production
Do not assume local file existence proves remote mount readiness or copy sensitive data to an unintended host.
