Docker / Engine, Containers & Runtime Diagnosis
Explain missing docker logs through the selected logging driver
An application can write to files or use a logging driver whose behavior differs from local stdout capture. Inspect driver configuration.
Environment and inputs: Docker Engine · Compose v2 and Buildx where specified; Linux containers unless noted. Verify daemon context, installed feature support and authorized host or Swarm manager access first.
Start with this check
Confirm the environment and replace sample objects, namespaces, images, paths and hosts with approved targets. Share only relevant, sanitized output. Follow the workload owner’s process for changes.
docker container inspect --format '{{json .HostConfig.LogConfig}}' app
Read the result
The driver and options describe this container's configured logging path. They do not prove the application writes to stdout or that the remote destination retained records.
Resolve and verify
Compare logging configuration, application output and approved centralized collection. Repair the specific delivery path and validate a controlled harmless log record.
Before changing production
Do not change drivers or recreate containers before preserving the incident window and required audit data.
