Docker / Engine, Containers & Runtime Diagnosis
Capture a bounded Docker event timeline for a short incident
A transient restart, network attachment or health transition may no longer be obvious from current state. Read a limited event window.
Environment and inputs: Docker Engine · Compose v2 and Buildx where specified; Linux containers unless noted. Verify daemon context, installed feature support and authorized host or Swarm manager access first.
Start with this check
Confirm the environment and replace sample objects, namespaces, images, paths and hosts with approved targets. Share only relevant, sanitized output. Follow the workload owner’s process for changes.
docker events --since 30m --until 0s --filter type=container
Read the result
The command requests available container events for a bounded relative period. Retention and daemon history are limited and timestamps need host context.
Resolve and verify
Correlate exact container IDs with deployment activity and application failures. Preserve the meaningful sequence and identify the first cause rather than only the last restart.
Before changing production
Do not treat events as a complete durable audit trail or leave an unbounded watcher running unnecessarily.
