PLC / Digital I/O, Sensors & Actuators
Separate sensor detection geometry from a PLC input fault
A sensor can switch correctly in a static setup yet miss the actual product because of alignment, material or mechanical movement.
Environment and inputs: Industrial PLC / automation guidance · Verify the exact controller, module, firmware, engineering tool and machine documentation. Linked vendor examples apply to their stated products and library versions; observation, state changes and physical work require distinct authorization.
Observe and record
Compare authorized observation of target position and sensor status with the raw PLC input and documented sensing conditions.
Interpret the evidence
A working indicator at one position does not prove adequate detection margin across the full product and speed range.
Resolve and verify
Have the machine owner validate mounting, target suitability and timing under the approved test procedure, then verify the signal reaches the intended logic.
Machine and data safeguards
Do not reach into moving equipment or adjust a sensor near an active mechanism during informal troubleshooting.
