PLC / PLC Programming, Timing & State Logic
Explain a PLC off-delay output that remains true longer than expected
Repeated enable changes, task timing or an incorrect timer selection can extend the observed off-delay behavior.
Environment and inputs: Industrial PLC / automation guidance · Verify the exact controller, module, firmware, engineering tool and machine documentation. Linked vendor examples apply to their stated products and library versions; observation, state changes and physical work require distinct authorization.
Observe and record
Capture the input transition, configured preset, elapsed state and consumer logic through an authorized bounded observation.
Interpret the evidence
The timer output can be retriggered or interpreted differently from the intended machine delay. HMI refresh is not a precise timing reference.
Resolve and verify
Compare the exact block documentation and application requirement, repair the tested logic and verify both normal and interrupted sequences.
Machine and data safeguards
Do not change an actuator release delay without reviewing the machine's validated stopping and protection behavior.
