PLC / Digital I/O, Sensors & Actuators
Investigate conflicting PLC output requests without energizing them
Two opposing requests can appear together because of mode logic, multiple writers or stale command state. The impact depends on the machine's validated control design.
Environment and inputs: Industrial PLC / automation guidance · Verify the exact controller, module, firmware, engineering tool and machine documentation. Linked vendor examples apply to their stated products and library versions; observation, state changes and physical work require distinct authorization.
Observe and record
Record the request tags, ownership logic, current mode and available interlock diagnostics in an approved non-actuating observation.
Interpret the evidence
Software requests and final physical outputs are distinct. Independent electrical or safety protections must not be assumed from program naming.
Resolve and verify
Find the authoritative command path, correct the demonstrated logic defect offline and validate conflict handling through the approved commissioning process.
Machine and data safeguards
Do not force opposing actuators or remove an interlock to discover which request wins.
