PLC / HMI, SCADA, Alarms & Historian
Investigate an HMI value that looks valid but no longer updates
An HMI can continue showing a cached number after its data source becomes stale or disconnected.
Environment and inputs: Industrial PLC / automation guidance · Verify the exact controller, module, firmware, engineering tool and machine documentation. Linked vendor examples apply to their stated products and library versions; observation, state changes and physical work require distinct authorization.
Observe and record
Record the displayed value, quality indication, timestamp and associated driver status through the normal operator and diagnostic views.
Interpret the evidence
A plausible numeric display is not proof of fresh PLC data. Client refresh, gateway acquisition and controller updates can fail independently.
Resolve and verify
Trace the first failed update layer, repair the demonstrated connection or tag configuration and verify fresh data and clear invalid-quality indication.
Machine and data safeguards
Do not hide bad-quality overlays or substitute a constant to make the screen appear operational.
