ORA-00933: isolate SQL syntax unsupported by Oracle
SQL copied from another database can use unsupported clause placement or syntax. Reduce the failing statement while preserving its original error position.
Environment and inputs: Oracle Database 19c baseline · SQL*Plus-compatible SQL unless RMAN, DGMGRL, ADRCI or a host shell is specified. Check release, patch level, edition and container first.
Start with this diagnostic
Use the stated SQL, RMAN, DGMGRL or host shell and replace sample names with approved targets. DBA and V$ views need authorized catalog access in the correct container. Do not grant broad privileges for an example.
SELECT banner_full FROM v$version;
Read the result
The release banner helps select the correct Oracle SQL grammar. Client tools may also split statements differently around delimiters.
Resolve and verify
Compare the statement with the SQL reference for this release. Replace foreign-dialect syntax and test the corrected statement in a development environment with representative binds.
Operational precautions
Do not run a production data-changing statement merely to test its syntax. Driver APIs usually expect a single SQL statement without SQL*Plus delimiters.
