Verify snapshot API and driver support before relying on a VolumeSnapshot
A snapshot manifest alone does not establish a usable recovery point. The cluster needs compatible APIs, controllers and storage support.
Environment and inputs: Kubernetes · kubectl with supported client/server versions and delegated RBAC. Examples use namespace app unless noted. Check context, namespace, APIs and provider support first.
Start with this check
Confirm the environment and replace sample objects, namespaces, images, paths and hosts with approved targets. Share only relevant, sanitized output. Follow the workload owner’s process for changes.
kubectl -n app get volumesnapshot app-checkpoint -o yaml
Read the result
On a cluster with the snapshot CRDs installed, status shows readiness and references where available. Snapshot readiness does not prove application consistency.
Resolve and verify
Compare the class, driver and backend snapshot with the application's quiescing and retention design. Test an isolated restore and validate data and keys.
Before changing production
Do not assume snapshot APIs are built into every installation or treat a storage snapshot as an independent offsite backup.
