Kubernetes / Storage, Configuration & Data Protection
Diagnose stale ConfigMap files mounted through subPath
A subPath mount can behave differently from a normally projected configuration volume. Inspect the exact mount structure.
Environment and inputs: Kubernetes · kubectl with supported client/server versions and delegated RBAC. Examples use namespace app unless noted. Check context, namespace, APIs and provider support first.
Start with this check
Confirm the environment and replace sample objects, namespaces, images, paths and hosts with approved targets. Share only relevant, sanitized output. Follow the workload owner’s process for changes.
kubectl -n app get pod web-0 -o jsonpath='{.spec.containers[*].volumeMounts}'
Read the result
The mount list reveals subPath use for the relevant container. It does not prove what content the application has already loaded into memory.
Resolve and verify
Compare the documented update behavior with the application's reload design. Use a reviewed rollout or supported mount design to deliver the intended new configuration.
Before changing production
Do not edit files inside an immutable application container as a permanent configuration fix.
