Kubernetes / Storage, Configuration & Data Protection
Find why a PersistentVolumeClaim remains Pending
A Pod can wait for storage because provisioning, class selection or binding requirements are unsatisfied. Inspect the claim's own events.
Environment and inputs: Kubernetes · kubectl with supported client/server versions and delegated RBAC. Examples use namespace app unless noted. Check context, namespace, APIs and provider support first.
Start with this check
Confirm the environment and replace sample objects, namespaces, images, paths and hosts with approved targets. Share only relevant, sanitized output. Follow the workload owner’s process for changes.
kubectl -n app describe pvc app-data
Read the result
The claim's class, access requirements and provisioning events help identify whether binding or backend creation failed. A waiting claim is not proof that storage capacity alone is exhausted.
Resolve and verify
Compare the request with the intended StorageClass and CSI provisioner, then repair the exact backend or policy issue. Verify binding and a safe application access test.
Before changing production
Do not delete a claim or choose an arbitrary volume while data ownership and recovery requirements are unknown.
