Kubernetes / Storage, Configuration & Data Protection
Check whether a volume's access mode fits the workload's replica model
A replicated application can request storage semantics the backend does not support. Inspect both claim requirements and the selected volume.
Environment and inputs: Kubernetes · kubectl with supported client/server versions and delegated RBAC. Examples use namespace app unless noted. Check context, namespace, APIs and provider support first.
Start with this check
Confirm the environment and replace sample objects, namespaces, images, paths and hosts with approved targets. Share only relevant, sanitized output. Follow the workload owner’s process for changes.
kubectl -n app get pvc app-data -o jsonpath='{.spec.accessModes}{" "}{.spec.volumeName}'
Read the result
The access modes describe the storage contract, not a complete application-level concurrency guarantee. ReadWriteOnce is not universally equivalent to one Pod.
Resolve and verify
Compare the backend's supported modes, node placement and application write-safety design. Select an approved storage architecture or replica strategy.
Before changing production
Do not force a shared mount for a database that cannot safely accept concurrent writers.
