Find namespace defaults that changed a Pod's effective resources
A Pod can receive requests or limits that were absent from the submitted template because namespace policy supplies defaults.
Environment and inputs: Kubernetes · kubectl with supported client/server versions and delegated RBAC. Examples use namespace app unless noted. Check context, namespace, APIs and provider support first.
Start with this check
Confirm the environment and replace sample objects, namespaces, images, paths and hosts with approved targets. Share only relevant, sanitized output. Follow the workload owner’s process for changes.
kubectl -n app describe limitrange
kubectl -n app get pod web-0 -o jsonpath='{.spec.containers[*].resources}'
Read the result
Compare policy with the created Pod's effective specification. Admission controls beyond LimitRange may also alter or reject resources.
Resolve and verify
Align application resource intent with approved namespace defaults and measured demand. Correct the specific policy or manifest and verify scheduling and runtime stability.
Before changing production
Do not delete namespace safeguards to make one workload fit without reviewing other applications.
