Separate Docker daemon proxy configuration from application proxy settings
Image pulls originate through the daemon's network context, which can differ from a shell or running container. Identify configuration sources securely.
Environment and inputs: Docker Engine · Compose v2 and Buildx where specified; Linux containers unless noted. Verify daemon context, installed feature support and authorized host or Swarm manager access first.
Start with this check
Confirm the environment and replace sample objects, namespaces, images, paths and hosts with approved targets. Share only relevant, sanitized output. Follow the workload owner’s process for changes.
systemctl show docker.service -p FragmentPath -p DropInPaths
Read the result
This Linux systemd example locates daemon unit configuration sources without dumping environment values. Rootless and Desktop daemons use different management paths.
Resolve and verify
Compare approved daemon proxy settings, registry bypass rules and exact pull error through secure local inspection. Repair only the relevant managed source and validate a pull workflow.
Before changing production
Do not publish proxy URLs containing credentials or assume a container's HTTP_PROXY config controls daemon image pulls.
