Docker / Networking, Ports & Service Connectivity
Diagnose a container application using an unintended proxy path
A container can receive proxy settings from deployment configuration or client-side defaults. Registry pulls and application requests are different flows.
Environment and inputs: Docker Engine · Compose v2 and Buildx where specified; Linux containers unless noted. Verify daemon context, installed feature support and authorized host or Swarm manager access first.
Start with this check
Confirm the environment and replace sample objects, namespaces, images, paths and hosts with approved targets. Share only relevant, sanitized output. Follow the workload owner’s process for changes.
docker context show
docker container inspect --format '{{.Config.Image}} {{.HostConfig.NetworkMode}}' app
Read the result
The target daemon, image and network mode establish context without printing environment secrets. They do not show the effective proxy values.
Resolve and verify
Review the application's approved environment and proxy-bypass configuration privately, then test a harmless request through the intended path. Correct the managed source and replace connections safely.
Before changing production
Do not dump all environment values, disable TLS or send private backend traffic to an unapproved proxy.
