Read scheduled-task results in the correct server execution context
A task can launch successfully while its script fails or writes output to the wrong location. Inspect the run metadata and action configuration.
Environment and inputs: Windows Server 2022 / 2025 baseline · Windows PowerShell with the specified role or RSAT modules; native utilities are identified in the text. Use delegated administration and elevation only where required.
Start with this check
Confirm the host, shell and access role. Replace sample names, paths, domains and interfaces with approved targets. These are diagnostic commands; assess policy and workload impact before making changes.
Get-ScheduledTaskInfo -TaskName 'NightlyJob' -TaskPath '\'
Read the result
With ScheduledTasks tools, this reports run timing and last result for the selected task. A zero launcher result does not always prove the business output is correct.
Resolve and verify
Compare the configured account, working directory and action with script logs and expected artifacts. Repair the specific execution-context defect and test safely.
Before changing production
Do not run a non-idempotent production task repeatedly or store secret-bearing arguments in plain-text task definitions.
