Inspect Ubuntu Netplan intent before applying a network change
The live address can differ from a stale YAML expectation or a different rendering service. Inspect the merged Netplan configuration.
Environment and inputs: Linux server baseline · Ubuntu 24.04 LTS / RHEL 9-style systems. Use the specified distribution, init system and installed tool; service names, privileges and supported options can differ.
Start with this check
Confirm the host, shell and access role. Replace sample names, paths, domains and interfaces with approved targets. These are diagnostic commands; assess policy and workload impact before making changes.
netplan get
Read the result
On supported Ubuntu servers with Netplan, this reads configuration intent. It does not prove the renderer successfully applied it or that the live route is correct.
Resolve and verify
Compare the intended renderer, interface and routes with live state, then validate syntax and use the supported guarded change workflow in a maintenance window.
Before changing production
Configuration can contain private addresses or credentials. Do not paste the full output publicly or apply untested networking without console access.
