Windows Server / Hyper-V & Failover Clustering
Investigate guest memory pressure with Hyper-V dynamic-memory context
Guest memory warnings can reflect host pressure, dynamic-memory bounds or application demand. Inspect the VM's memory configuration and current assignment.
Environment and inputs: Windows Server 2022 / 2025 baseline · Windows PowerShell with the specified role or RSAT modules; native utilities are identified in the text. Use delegated administration and elevation only where required.
Start with this check
Confirm the host, shell and access role. Replace sample names, paths, domains and interfaces with approved targets. These are diagnostic commands; assess policy and workload impact before making changes.
Get-VMMemory -VMName 'APP01'
Get-VM -Name 'APP01' | Select-Object Name, MemoryAssigned, MemoryDemand, MemoryStatus
Read the result
The configuration and runtime values describe different aspects of memory. Guest applications may require settings supported by their own vendors.
Resolve and verify
Compare workload peaks with host headroom and configured minimum, startup and maximum values. Plan a justified adjustment and test under representative concurrency.
Before changing production
Do not overcommit host memory or change database VM memory settings without application support guidance.
