PLC / Analog Signals & Measurement Quality
Investigate RTD errors caused by a mismatched wire configuration
An RTD channel can be biased when the sensor wiring method and module compensation setting do not agree.
Environment and inputs: Industrial PLC / automation guidance · Verify the exact controller, module, firmware, engineering tool and machine documentation. Linked vendor examples apply to their stated products and library versions; observation, state changes and physical work require distinct authorization.
Observe and record
Compare the installed sensor's documented two-, three- or four-wire arrangement with the exact module mode and approved drawing.
Interpret the evidence
Lead-resistance compensation is not identical across wiring methods and devices. A stable offset can therefore be installation-related rather than a calibration defect.
Resolve and verify
Have qualified instrument maintenance verify and restore the supported configuration under isolation, then validate accuracy across the required range.
Machine and data safeguards
Do not move or short RTD terminals experimentally while the signal participates in machine or process control.
