PLC / Analog Signals & Measurement Quality
Consider sensor and input interaction when an RTD reads high
A temperature bias can involve lead resistance, sensor characteristics, input excitation or local heating, not simply a wrong software offset.
Environment and inputs: Industrial PLC / automation guidance · Verify the exact controller, module, firmware, engineering tool and machine documentation. Linked vendor examples apply to their stated products and library versions; observation, state changes and physical work require distinct authorization.
Observe and record
Review sensor class, module-supported RTD type and excitation specifications with the approved installation and calibration records.
Interpret the evidence
Self-heating and compensation behavior depend on the actual sensor and module. A single-point correction may conceal a temperature-dependent error.
Resolve and verify
Use the instrument owner's documented test method to identify the cause, then qualify the supported sensor or input arrangement and validate several points.
Machine and data safeguards
Do not alter excitation or replace the sensor type outside the manufacturer's supported configuration.
