PLC / Digital I/O, Sensors & Actuators
Check output technology before substituting a PLC module
Relay, transistor and other output types differ in load compatibility, switching behavior and electrical isolation.
Environment and inputs: Industrial PLC / automation guidance · Verify the exact controller, module, firmware, engineering tool and machine documentation. Linked vendor examples apply to their stated products and library versions; observation, state changes and physical work require distinct authorization.
Observe and record
Compare the installed module order code, output technology, rated load category and approved spare specification without changing the circuit.
Interpret the evidence
Matching channel count and nominal voltage do not establish equivalence. Some loads require different protection, polarity or switching capability.
Resolve and verify
Have the electrical and controls owners approve a compatible replacement and validate the documented load behavior after isolated installation.
Machine and data safeguards
Do not substitute a transistor output for a relay contact or reuse terminal assignments by appearance alone.
