Investigate PLC communication timeouts without only increasing retries
Polling demand can exceed a device or link's capacity, while retransmissions amplify the problem. A physical fault can produce similar timing.

Observe and record
Record configured poll groups, request sizes, timeout and retry settings alongside available response-time and error evidence.
Interpret the evidence
A fast network link does not guarantee fast device processing. Unused HMI clients and diagnostic tools can add hidden request load.
Resolve and verify
Reduce demonstrated unnecessary demand or repair the failing dependency through the OT owner, then validate freshness and bounded recovery under normal concurrency.
Machine and data safeguards
Do not shorten every timeout or retry continuously; that can worsen load and hide invalid stale data.
