Investigate HMI numeric truncation or unexpected negative values
A binding can use an incompatible integer width, signedness or decimal representation even when the source data is valid.

Observe and record
Compare the source symbol type, driver interpretation, tag type and screen formatting without changing live values.
Interpret the evidence
Formatting is not the same as datatype conversion. A clipped display can conceal that a write would also be truncated or misinterpreted.
Resolve and verify
Correct the managed type mapping and validate minimum, maximum, negative and invalid cases offline before checking approved live observations.
Machine and data safeguards
Do not send boundary test values to real equipment through an uncertain HMI mapping.
