PLC / Drives, Motion & Axis Diagnostics
Investigate a drive's communication-loss response in the full control design
A drive can enter a configured state when cyclic commands stop, independently from the PLC's own watchdog.
Environment and inputs: Industrial PLC / automation guidance · Verify the exact controller, module, firmware, engineering tool and machine documentation. Linked vendor examples apply to their stated products and library versions; observation, state changes and physical work require distinct authorization.
Observe and record
Capture the exact drive timeout, connection status, configured approved loss policy and PLC task timing around the event.
Interpret the evidence
Controller task watchdogs, fieldbus timeout and drive communication monitoring are different mechanisms with different effects.
Resolve and verify
Repair the demonstrated network or task dependency and validate the approved loss and recovery behavior with the machine owner.
Machine and data safeguards
Do not lengthen the timeout or select hold-last-reference without reviewing the validated machine response.
