RMAN-03009: investigate the channel command that failed
A channel failure message wraps a more specific Oracle, OS or media-manager error. Preserve the complete stack and channel name.
Environment and inputs: Oracle Database 19c baseline · SQL*Plus-compatible SQL unless RMAN, DGMGRL, ADRCI or a host shell is specified. Check release, patch level, edition and container first.
Start with this diagnostic
Use the stated SQL, RMAN, DGMGRL or host shell and replace sample names with approved targets. DBA and V$ views need authorized catalog access in the correct container. Do not grant broad privileges for an example.
SELECT session_recid, session_stamp, output FROM v$rman_output;
Read the result
The view can expose available RMAN output for current retained sessions. It is not a guaranteed durable archive of every historical job.
Resolve and verify
Find the first lower-level error and compare it with channel configuration, media access and host logs. Correct the demonstrated issue and retry the appropriate job scope.
Operational precautions
Do not repeatedly increase channel count; extra concurrency can worsen a storage or memory constraint.
