ORA-04063: inspect compilation errors in an invalid object
A view or program unit may become invalid after a dependency or privilege changes. Retrieve its actual compiler errors before recompiling repeatedly.
Environment and inputs: Oracle Database 19c baseline · SQL*Plus-compatible SQL unless RMAN, DGMGRL, ADRCI or a host shell is specified. Check release, patch level, edition and container first.
Start with this diagnostic
Use the stated SQL, RMAN, DGMGRL or host shell and replace sample names with approved targets. DBA and V$ views need authorized catalog access in the correct container. Do not grant broad privileges for an example.
SELECT owner, name, type, line, position, text FROM all_errors WHERE owner = 'APP_OWNER' AND name = 'APP_ORDER_API' ORDER BY sequence;
Read the result
The result identifies visible compiler messages and source locations. A view's dependency or missing direct grant can be the cause rather than the view text itself.
Resolve and verify
Repair the missing dependency, source defect or required direct privilege. Recompile through the release procedure and verify the application's original call.
Operational precautions
Do not grant broad privileges or recompile the entire database to fix one object without impact assessment.
