ORA-01536: check an account's tablespace quota
A user can exhaust its allowed allocation while the tablespace itself still has room. Inspect the quota for the account named by the failing operation.
Environment and inputs: Oracle Database 19c baseline · SQL*Plus-compatible SQL unless RMAN, DGMGRL, ADRCI or a host shell is specified. Check release, patch level, edition and container first.
Start with this diagnostic
Use the stated SQL, RMAN, DGMGRL or host shell and replace sample names with approved targets. DBA and V$ views need authorized catalog access in the correct container. Do not grant broad privileges for an example.
SELECT username, tablespace_name, bytes, max_bytes FROM dba_ts_quotas WHERE username = 'APP_USER';
Read the result
MAX_BYTES of -1 represents an unlimited quota in this view. No row requires checking privileges and intended allocation rights, not assuming a positive quota exists.
Resolve and verify
Compare used bytes with the approved quota and growth forecast. Have the DBA adjust the specific quota when justified, then repeat the failed operation.
Operational precautions
Do not grant UNLIMITED TABLESPACE as a blanket fix for a single schema's capacity request.
