Investigate a volume multi-attach error during rescheduling
A replacement Pod can wait while an exclusive volume remains attached elsewhere or the backend has not completed detach.
Environment and inputs: Kubernetes · kubectl with supported client/server versions and delegated RBAC. Examples use namespace app unless noted. Check context, namespace, APIs and provider support first.
Start with this check
Confirm the environment and replace sample objects, namespaces, images, paths and hosts with approved targets. Share only relevant, sanitized output. Follow the workload owner’s process for changes.
kubectl -n app describe pod database-0
kubectl get volumeattachments
Read the result
Use authorized storage visibility. Events and attachment records show controller intent, but the backend's actual attachment state also matters.
Resolve and verify
Confirm the old writer and node state, then follow the CSI provider's supported detach or recovery procedure. Verify exclusive ownership before restoring writes.
Before changing production
Do not force-delete attachments or fence storage by guesswork; two writers can corrupt data.
