Kubernetes / Cluster Operations, Access & Incident Response
Collect bounded kubelet logs on the node that actually failed
API events may report only that Pod setup failed while kubelet logs contain the runtime or mount error. Use authorized node access.
Environment and inputs: Kubernetes · kubectl with supported client/server versions and delegated RBAC. Examples use namespace app unless noted. Check context, namespace, APIs and provider support first.
Start with this check
Confirm the environment and replace sample objects, namespaces, images, paths and hosts with approved targets. Share only relevant, sanitized output. Follow the workload owner’s process for changes.
journalctl -u kubelet --since '30 minutes ago' --no-pager -n 200
Read the result
This Linux systemd example reads retained kubelet logs on a self-managed node. Managed providers and other node layouts require their supported log collection path.
Resolve and verify
Correlate the exact Pod UID and timestamp with runtime, CNI or CSI evidence. Repair the demonstrated node dependency without changing unrelated workloads.
Before changing production
Do not grant broad host access for convenience or publish credentials and internal details from node logs.
