Check CronJob concurrency policy before overlapping batch work
A recurring job can still be running when the next schedule arrives. Its concurrency policy determines how the controller handles that situation.
Environment and inputs: Kubernetes · kubectl with supported client/server versions and delegated RBAC. Examples use namespace app unless noted. Check context, namespace, APIs and provider support first.
Start with this check
Confirm the environment and replace sample objects, namespaces, images, paths and hosts with approved targets. Share only relevant, sanitized output. Follow the workload owner’s process for changes.
kubectl -n app get cronjob nightly -o jsonpath='{.spec.concurrencyPolicy}{" "}{.spec.suspend}{" "}{.status.active}'
Read the result
The fields describe configured overlap behavior and active references. Policies apply to this CronJob, not every external process touching the same data.
Resolve and verify
Compare run duration and business idempotency with the schedule. Tune workload or scheduling and select an approved policy that preserves correctness.
Before changing production
Do not replace active batch work or permit overlap just to clear a scheduling warning.
