Docker / Volumes, Filesystems & Recovery
Verify a Docker application restore independently from container startup
A recovered container can start while its data, configuration or keys are incomplete. Establish image and volume identity for the rehearsal.
Environment and inputs: Docker Engine · Compose v2 and Buildx where specified; Linux containers unless noted. Verify daemon context, installed feature support and authorized host or Swarm manager access first.
Start with this check
Confirm the environment and replace sample objects, namespaces, images, paths and hosts with approved targets. Share only relevant, sanitized output. Follow the workload owner’s process for changes.
docker container inspect --format '{{.Image}} {{json .Mounts}}' restore-test
Read the result
Use a clearly isolated test workload, never the live target. The inventory confirms placement but does not validate data semantics or recovery time.
Resolve and verify
Restore through the application's supported method, verify representative records and required integrations, and record the recovered point and elapsed time. Keep restored endpoints isolated appropriately.
Before changing production
Do not register a recovery copy as the live service accidentally or overwrite production data while testing.
