Docker / Images, Dockerfiles & Build Reliability
Check available Dockerfile stages before selecting a build target
A pipeline can build the wrong stage or fail because its target name changed. Inspect the frontend's declared targets where supported.
Environment and inputs: Docker Engine · Compose v2 and Buildx where specified; Linux containers unless noted. Verify daemon context, installed feature support and authorized host or Swarm manager access first.
Start with this check
Confirm the environment and replace sample objects, namespaces, images, paths and hosts with approved targets. Share only relevant, sanitized output. Follow the workload owner’s process for changes.
docker buildx build --call=targets .
Read the result
On supporting Buildx and Dockerfile frontend versions, this lists available build targets without a normal target build. Version and frontend availability matter.
Resolve and verify
Compare the CI target with the intended runtime stage and source revision. Correct the reviewed pipeline and validate the final image's files and startup contract.
Before changing production
Do not assume the last development stage is the production artifact or use a target listing as a runtime test.
