Docker / Images, Dockerfiles & Build Reliability
Compare a local image's platform with the Docker daemon
A correct repository name can still refer to a locally built artifact for another platform. Inspect image metadata directly.
Environment and inputs: Docker Engine · Compose v2 and Buildx where specified; Linux containers unless noted. Verify daemon context, installed feature support and authorized host or Swarm manager access first.
Start with this check
Confirm the environment and replace sample objects, namespaces, images, paths and hosts with approved targets. Share only relevant, sanitized output. Follow the workload owner’s process for changes.
docker image inspect --format '{{.Os}}/{{.Architecture}}' app:release
docker info --format '{{.OSType}}/{{.Architecture}}'
Read the result
The values describe reported image and daemon platforms. Emulation support, variants and embedded binaries can require additional verification.
Resolve and verify
Use a tested compatible release artifact or supported multi-platform build, then validate startup on the intended runtime host.
Before changing production
Do not force platform flags without confirming actual binary compatibility and operational support.
