Docker / Engine, Containers & Runtime Diagnosis
Check live-restore configuration before planning Docker daemon maintenance
Some Linux Engine configurations can keep containers running during supported daemon downtime, but limitations and version changes matter.
Environment and inputs: Docker Engine · Compose v2 and Buildx where specified; Linux containers unless noted. Verify daemon context, installed feature support and authorized host or Swarm manager access first.
Start with this check
Confirm the environment and replace sample objects, namespaces, images, paths and hosts with approved targets. Share only relevant, sanitized output. Follow the workload owner’s process for changes.
docker info --format '{{.LiveRestoreEnabled}}'
Read the result
The reported flag describes this daemon's configuration, not a guarantee of uninterrupted operation for every upgrade or networking condition.
Resolve and verify
Compare the exact maintenance with Docker's supported live-restore conditions and test the runbook. Monitor container I/O, logging and reconnection after daemon recovery.
Before changing production
Do not assume live restore protects against host reboot, arbitrary incompatible upgrades or application dependency outages.
