Docker / Compose, Swarm & Production Security
Check Compose v2 features before copying commands from another host
An old standalone Compose binary or different plugin release can reject newer model fields and options. Record the actual CLI implementation.
Environment and inputs: Docker Engine · Compose v2 and Buildx where specified; Linux containers unless noted. Verify daemon context, installed feature support and authorized host or Swarm manager access first.
Start with this check
Confirm the environment and replace sample objects, namespaces, images, paths and hosts with approved targets. Share only relevant, sanitized output. Follow the workload owner’s process for changes.
docker compose version
docker buildx version
Read the result
The commands identify installed Compose and Buildx versions when available. Engine compatibility and remote builder capabilities are separate checks.
Resolve and verify
Compare the required feature with supported client and daemon versions, then upgrade through the managed tooling process and validate the project model.
Before changing production
Do not assume docker-compose and docker compose are interchangeable for every version-sensitive behavior.
